Vintage Pens: Parker 61
Vintage Pens: 1979 Parker 61
Capillary filling systems were the last great push for fountain pen filling system innovation and design. The Parker 61 introduced it, a wicking system that naturally sucked ink up into the pen. Teflon coating on the outer filler made sure that ink didn't stick, drip or make any mess. Just unscrew the tail barrel, dip the end of the filler in ink, wait a few seconds and you are done. Our vintage pen is a brick red with a gold-filled cap. It has some light wear from use, but there are no dents, cracks or deep scratches. We flushed the filling system to an almost perfectly clear. The original 14k gold nib writes a fine-medium line with a light scratchiness. 13.6cm capped.
