Vintage Pens: Parker Duofold
Vintage Pens: 2081 Parker Duofold
Have you ever wanted to try a Parker Vacumatic but balked when you saw the price? This 1941 Parker Duofold might be an excellent first Vacumatic-fill pen for you. Just imagine what it might have seen from its creation just before the U.S. entered World War II. We fully restored this pen with a new diaphragm, and it is in great working order. The original 14k gold nib writes a nice fine-medium line, and it has a tiny bit of flex. The imprint is strong, but the 1 date code is upside-down! The aluminum speedline filler works smoothly. Although the ink-viewing portion of the barrel is darkened from age, you can still see through it a little. No cracks, BUT this poor guy saw a lot of combat in the office...if not on the battlefield. It suffers heavy wear and some deep scratches. The tail is a little pregnant where the diaphragm fits into the barrel. Still, it is a great writer for every day use. 13cm capped.
