Franklin-Christoph took its Panther 40 model pen and had Maki-e artist Katsunobu Nishihara use platinum dust, mother-of-pearl and six layers of urushi to create a masterpiece. Better yet, it comes with a Franklin-Christoph 14k gold flexi nib! Unfortunately, we don't have the original box, but this pen is still pretty remarkable. Aside from a few traces of wear, there are no cracks or deep scratches. Click the photo for close-ups, but the mother-of-pearl "diamonds" in the tree really pop much better in real life. Smooth, easy flexing from extra-fine to maybe around .75mm wide. Comes with original converter. 13.8cm capped.

As a luxury pen, the Parker Sonnet often gets overlooked. However, we dare anyone not to fall in love with the solid sterling silver Parker Sonnet Fougere. Feathered herringbone is the best way to describe the pattern in the silver. Classically elegant, the silver on this pen doesn't show a trace of wear, denting or scratching. Unfortunately, there is a ring of wear around the gold-filled cap band, as if it were rolling around inside a desk for a while. Otherwise, the pen is quite stunning. It comes with its original boxes and converter. You will write a smooth fine line from a high angle of attack on the paper and a scratchier medium with a lower angle of attack. The 1990s saw Waterman return to luxury pen making. One of their first hits was the Waterman Exclusive. This pen is made of solid brass and is decorated in a burgundy lacquer. It comes its original converter and its original boxes. You will write a smooth medium line with its 18k gold nib. Click the headline for close-ups. There is a little wear where the cap posted on the pen. The lacquer is a little bumpy near the clip of the cap. And you can see in the nib photo that the section trim is a little spotted and scratched. 14.2cm capped.

You just can't overlook the stunning beauty of the green-and-quartz pebble design of this beautiful Franklin-Christoph 46 fountain pen. In near-mint condition it steals everyone's attention. The only think that might impress you more is that it has a 14k gold semi-flex nib. We think it was intended to be a full-flexi, but it feels firm fine when we write with it. You'll need to engage the flex with a little more intentionality. This oversized pen also includes its original standard international converter. No pocket clip on the cap. Copper colors swirl like flames through a stunning midnight blue finish in our Franklin-Christoph 46. Our pre-owned pen is in excellent condition, barely used. It comes with its standard international converter. Click the headline for close-ups. You will write with a very firm semi-flex steel nib. You will go from extra fine to just over 1mm wide. There's a little feedback, but it is fun to write with. 13.6cm capped.

Metallic Turquoise is really stunning on this limited edition Kaweco Art Sport fountain pen. It is in like-new condition with minimal, if any, wear. These pens only use standard international cartridges, and this one comes with an unopened one in its barrel. Seemingly undipped or used, the steel nib does not appear to have ever seen ink. As such, we haven't dipped it and given it a spin. Included is a Kaweco tin that has space for two pens. Pen measures 10.5cm capped.

Celebrating Chinese New Year, this Cross 2015 Year of the Goat fountain pen is a real head turner. Using the Cross Sauvage platform, this preowned pen was coated in Moonlit Black Lacquer leaving the golden outline of a goat. We believe the pen to be new old stock. The slightly scuffed up and worn presentation box still hosts the original cartridges and unused converter. There isn't a trace of wear on the pen. The only thing missing is whatever was in a square space inside the box, in front of the pen. As we suspect it to be N.O.S., we didn't dip the 18k gold nib to try it. Fans of Sailor pens know that ZOOM nibs are a special treat, and we are happy to report that this standard-size Sailor 1911 has a Zoom nib! For the uninitiated, the Zoom nib is a 14k gold broad nib. In the world of Japanese nibs, it might be considered a double or triple broad. For American and European nib enthusiasts, we dipped it and it looks mostly like a regular broad nib. Regardless, aside from a scuff on the pocket clip, this pen looks like new. It also comes complete with its original boxes and converter. 13.6cm capped.
