About the Pen: Ivory is frequently combined with ebony, known even in antiquity as one of the most beautiful and most expensive of woods. The heartwood, very dark brown to black, shows off the creamy white of the ivory almost perfectly. This composition takes ideal shape in the “Pen of the Year 2006”. In elaborate inlay work, the artistically engraved pieces of ivory are let into an ebony framework. Each pen is individually numbered and supplied in an exclusive ivory-coloured wooden case together with a beautifully printed leaflet and a certificate that it is one of a limited edition. This bears the personal signature of the master craftsman Jürgen Schott and attests the quality of the ivory.

The Southeast Asian stingray (Dasyatis sephen) belongs to the large family of stingrays, whose habitat is found throughout the oceans of Asia. Skillful and elaborate processing produces one of the most remarkable leathers currently in existence. It has a soft and smooth feel, while being remarkably resilient and tear-resistant. considered to be the most durable leather in the world. Highly prized in luxury production during the Art Déco era, stingray leather or Galuchat places great challenges on expert craftsmanship. The elaborate craftsmanship and individually distinct features of the barrel make each “Pen of the Year 2005” one of a kind. The 18-carat bicolor gold nib is ‚run in‘ by hand and is available in M, B and F widths. The solid, spring-loaded clip ensures safe positioning of the pen once inserted in a pocket. A platinum-plated cover protects the turning knob of the piston-filling system.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1676: Faber Castell: Graf von Faber-Castell
Does one ever get tired of German craftsmanship and engineering? A Graf von Faber-Castell fountain pen is one of many high-ranking achievements in Germany's contribution to the world of writing instruments. This model is made of "Ebenholtz" (ebony wood) and sterling silver-plated trim. This preowned pen comes with its original box, papers and converter. The two-tone 18k nib writes a smooth medium line. The barrel and end cap of the pen are impeccable. The section has some scratches and nicks in the silver. The front of the cap is nice, but there is a fair amount of wear on the back of the cap: lots of scratching while it was riding in a pocket or bag. Still, to most people it will present as a beautiful pen in your hand that writes very well. 13.6cm capped.
