Vintage Pens: Parker 51
Vintage Pens: 2595 Parker 51
Ever vintage pen collection needs a good Parker 51 in it for daily use. We restored this one with a new diaphragm, and it works like a charm. The 14k gold nib writes a nice, fine line. The barrel shows moderate wear from daily use in the 1940s. Lots of minor surface scratches, but no deep ones or cracks. The sterling silver cap is all but dent and dimple free. It shows some other wear but no dents. Its only major flaw is that a little piece of the grey pearl "jewel" has been cut away. The tail cap isn't perfectly flush with the barrel. A barrel imprint is strong, indicating this Parker 51 was made in the third quarter of 1944...when the Allies were reclaiming huge swaths of Europe. 13.8cm capped.
