Vintage Pens: Esterbrook Icicle LJ-2556
Vintage Pens: 2767 Esterbrook Icicle LJ-2556
Vintage pen fans are always on the prowl for a great red pen, as it was universally the rarest color of most pen lines. This is not only a rare Esterbrook Icicle pen, it is a red one. Better yet, it has an imprint that wraps around the barrel instead of running up and done it lengthwise. No cracks. Fresh ink sac. BUT, look closely and you might notice something substantially out of place. Check out the lever. It has serious brassing, and we aren't aware of Esterbrook every using brass parts. It fits perfectly and works well, but we suspect it was cannibalized from a different pen. ALSO, the section looks too small, as if it came from an Esterbrook Purse Pen. The inside friction-fitting part of the section has definitely been shaved for a good fit. The pen works well, and the steel 2556 upgrade nib writes a very dry, extra-fine line that has a little feedback. 13cm capped.
