Vintage Pens: Esterbrook SJ-9048
Vintage Pens: 3179 Esterbrook SJ-9048
If pens had a flavor, this one would definitely be mint. We love the mint-green color on this Esterbrook SJ fountain pen from the 1950s. It is free of cracks and has only minimal surface wear while sporting a strong imprint. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. Even the pocket clip is still on tightly. Landing it in the "Nobody's Perfect Club" is a big chip taken out of the black tail jewel and a lever that hangs down about 10 degrees when upside down. Its steel 9048 was considered an upgrade nib for "Shaded Writing." Yes, that's code for FLEX! Click the headline for a close-up. It writes a wet fine line that does flex with a little pressure. It leans closer to semi-flex than wet noodle. 12cm capped.
