Vintage Pens: Sheaffer Admiral
Vintage Pens: 3181 Sheaffer Admiral
Ahoy! Sheaffer Admiral fountain pens are an excellent first voyage into Sheaffer snorkel pens. Snorkels were Sheaffer's premier filling system of the 1950s. Fighting for relevancy as ballpoints came to dominate the marketplace, Sheaffer took on the #1 complaint about fountain pens head-on. People complained about getting their fingers inky after wiping down a nib after refilling. Sheaffer created the ultimate Rube Goldberg device to prevent customers from having to touch a single drop of ink...the snorkel filler. We replaced this pen's ink sac, O-ring and point seal. The pen, itself, is in nearly mint condition without any cracks or significant traces of wear. Its open, monotone 14k gold nib writes a smooth, fine-medium line.
