Vintage Pens: Esterbrook SJ-1551
Vintage Pens: 3692 Esterbrook SJ-1551
American learned to write with Esterbrook. In the 1950s no pen brand was requested by more high schools and trade schools than Esterbrook. Affordable and easily customized with interchangeable nibs, these vintage pens were what the Baby Boomers used to "learn how to write with an ink pen." Our Esterbrook SJ (short J-model) is in excellent condition with only light wear from use. There's a teeny, tiny ship in the lip of the cap, but you can't see it unless you are looking extremely hard for it. No cracks. No deep, long scratches. The two plastic black jewels are in tact. The clip is on tightly. We restored the pen with a new ink sac. It comes with a steel 1551 nib that writes a reasonably smooth fine-medium line. Of course, it unscrews easily to be replaced by any other Esterbrook nib you might have. 12cm capped.
