Vintage Pens: Sheaffer Ballpoint
Vintage Pens: 4080 Sheaffer Ballpoint
It is always fun to look at the earliest ballpoint pens and see what penmakers were trying to figure out about the new writing instruments. We don't know what model this Sheaffer ballpoint was. It is gold plated or filled and dent-free. No real scratches, either. Clearly the pen is a clicker, BUT it also came with a cap! Click the headline to see the ballpoint refill still in the pen. This is nothing like a modern refill for Sheaffer, and we aren't certain how you'd make this pen work, again. The tail end of the refill is cracked, though it isn't visible in the photo. (We cleaned up a real, dried-out mess inside the pen.) The refill won't lock into a clicked down position. More of a beautiful conversation piece, at this point. 14.2cm capped.
