Another early Retro 51 fountain pen arrives for your writing and display pleasures. An ivory finish with black and silvery accents makes the pen look far more luxury-oriented. It fills using standard international cartridges or converters. (Not included) You will see it is in excellent condition. Click the headline for close-ups. The steel nib has a cool 4-leaf clover design and writes a firm, smooth fine line. 14.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 3740 Conklin Sub Endura
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1930-1939
Price: $299.99
Vintage Pens: 3740: Conklin: Sub Endura
It took us a while to track down some answers for this pen. We finally discovered, courtesy of David Isaacson's inimitable website, that this was an unnamed model Conklin pen. He calls it the Conklin Sub Endura, as it was neither a Symetrik nor an Endura. It was meant as a lesser model for those who couldn't afford Conklin's higher end pens. While he had seen many of these pens in the past, he had only seen this maroon-and-pearl-grey pen once before. Ours is fully restored with a new ink sac. No cracks and minimal wear. Its only real problem is brassing on the cap bands. Write a nice fine line with a hint of flex with this original 14k gold nib. 13cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 3498 Retro 51 Fountain Pen
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $19.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 3498: Retro 51: Fountain Pen
In the early days of Retro 51, it appears they "sampled" their pen design off the Montblanc Classic. This particular model also appears to have been plated with silver. Unfortunately, it is tarnishing erratically, and we can't seem to polish it out...at least without ruining whatever lacquer coating they have on the pen. Fill the pen using standard international cartridges or converters. (Not included.) Sporting a two-tone steel nib, it writes a very nice, firm fine line. 14.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 3732 Sheaffer Lady Skrip Sert
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1950-1959
Price: $49.99
Vintage Pens: 3732: Sheaffer: Lady Skrip Sert
Modernizing the tradition of Ladies' pens, Sheaffer made the Lady Skrip Sert series in the middle of the 20th century. These slender, clipless pen were ideal for keeping in a hand bag. Plus, they sported a convenient new feature: disposable plastic ink cartridges! Aside from a couple little dark spots that might be tarnish on this golden lace version of the pen, our vintage pen is in very good condition. The palladium nib has a deep scratch on its surface, but it won't effect the writing. Click the headline for a close-up. It writes a firm, fine line with a little feedback. Unfortunately, these lovely pens wrote with a slender version of the Sheaffer cartridge and converter that is no longer available. We don't have either. Thus, until you find one, this pen is a dip-only or display model. 13.6cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 3727 Sheaffer Balance
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1930-1939
Price: $125.00
Vintage Pens: 3727: Sheaffer: Balance
The pearl parts of this late 1920s or early 1930s Sheaffer Balance fountain pen are some of the purist original color that we've ever seen. Unfortunately, part of the barrel has a little discoloration. As a vintage pen, it has been fully restored with a new ink sac. It sports an original inkfeed and 14k gold nib. Click the headline for a close-up. The nib writes a fine-medium line with a little feedback. Longer but also skinnier than the official oversized pen. 14.5cm capped.

Pre-Owned Pens: 3499: Retro 51: Early Ballpoint
It is really difficult to find the earliest of Retro 51 pens that were marked Retro 1951. However, this is one such metal wonder. This pen is in nearly mint condition with minimal traces of wear. No engravings, either. It comes with a working black Parker-style ballpoint refill that extends and retracts with at twist of the tail cap. 13.2cm capped.

Pre-Owned Pens: 3487: Retro 51: Tornado Deluxe Bamboo
Were you a panda in a former life? If so, perhaps you'll be especially attracted to our Retro 51 Tornado Deluxe Bamboo pen. There are no blemishes in the bamboo, but the metal trim shows a little wear. A little, laser-engraved panda can be seen on the barrel. Twist the metal tail piece to advance and retract the working, blue capless rollerball refill. (We have no idea how much ink remains.) 12.6cm.
Vintage Pens: 3726 Parker 75
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1960-1979
Price: $99.99
Vintage Pens: 3726: Parker: 75
Parker 75 pens could probably be considered the last daily, luxury fountain pen put out in mass production of the fountain pen era. Originally released in the 1960s, this is a more modern French-made Parker 75. We love the chrome barley pattern. The pen is in good general condition, but there are a couple little dents in the barrel. The biggest one is easy to miss, as it is no larger than the head of one of those colorful sewing pins, so we circled it in the photo. The nasty red oval makes it look worse that it is. Almost nobody would notice it at a casual glance. The pen fills with cartridges or a modern Parker converter, which is included. The nib can be rotated for a better writing angle with the ergonomical section grip. Its 14k gold nib writes an extra-fine line. 12.9cm capped.
