Vintage Pens: Marxton Fountain Pen
Vintage Pens: 2087 Marxton Fountain Pen
Marxton pens were a subbrand of the Eclipse Pen Company. (One clue is the wreath on the lever filler.) Made in the late 1920s or early 1930s, this is a classic oversized vintage pen. Beautiful shades of green and yellow swirl through the early celluloid like the colors in a Monet or Van Gogh. The big fat cap band is marked 14k gold filled and has a couple obvious scratches but is in good overall condition. We restored this pen with a monster ink sac. The pen has some wear, including a deep scar to the left of the pocket clip, but it gets lost in casual observation to the vibrant colors of the pen. The Warranted 14k NY nib looks like a 1mm oblique stub, but it writes more like a normal medium nib. The nib does have a little flex. 13.4cm capped.
