Vintage Pens: 5450: Sheaffer: PFM IV.V
Some marriages defy the odds and are forever beautiful. Just take this...welllll, we like to call it the Sheaffer PFM IV.V. It is a Sheaffer PFM IV cap on a V body. The little golden tail plate gives it away as a V body. Nevertheless, it looks good, has been fully restored and writes well! You will write a smooth, extra-fine line with its inlaid 14k gold nib. The pen shows some light wear from use but no dents, cracks or deep scarring scratches. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the pencil. Click the headline for a close-up, but even in the background you can see a nasty crack on the black barrel from the nose cone to about half-way down the barrel. It still expels lead but it seems to have some trouble retracting it.
Vintage Pens: 5449 Sheaffer PFM-III
Filling Mechanism: Snorkel
Era: 1960-1979   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $275.00
Vintage Pens: 5449: Sheaffer: PFM-III
Stepping up their game, Sheaffer added gold to the PFM line. The Sheaffer PFM-III has a 14k gold nib and gold-plated accents on the cap band and clip. Though considered the mid-tier pen by Sheaffer, many collectors like these better than the IV's and V's because of their caps matching the barrels. This black set is likely married, as the pencil has the initials RFF engraved on the pocket clip. The vintage pen is free of engravings. Our pen is fully restored and in great working order. No cracks or deep scratches on either writing instrument. There is a line of wear around the section and upper part of the nib where the cap snugged against it. You will write a nice, extra-fine line with the 14k gold nib. The pencil works well and still has a hardend blue original eraser and spare leads.

Vintage Pens: 5447: Sheaffer: PFM-II
In the world of Sheaffer Pens for Men, the Sheaffer PFM-II was the second step up the ladder, with the PFM-V being the pinnacle of the line of the pen. This fully restored vintage pen is in great working order. The palladium nib writes a firm, extra-fine line. There's a little feedback, but it is more sensitive to the paper beneath it than scratchy. The steel cap shows wear from use, as does the black pen. However, the cap is more worn than the barrel. No cracks, dents nor deep scratches. Great writing grip in its thicker design than earlier snorkels. 13.7cm capped.

Vintage Pens: 5302: Wahl-Eversharp: Streamliner
Enjoy British racing season with this dark (British racing) green Eversharp Streamliner fountain pen. It has been fully restored with a new ink sac. Our vintage pen writes an extra-fine line with a little feedback from its 14k gold nib. The good news is that it also has a little flex. The top dome is tightly affixed to the cap, even though you can see a little separation at the front of the cap. There's only a little wear and brassing on this handsome classic. No cracks. Click the headline for close-ups. Streamliners were Wahl-Eversharp's more affordable version of the Skyline model. 13.2cm capped.

Vintage Pens: 5319: Parker: 61
Do you think this was the rainbow connection Kermit the Frog was seeking? It is difficult not to fall in love with the 12k gold-filled and silvery rainbows on the cap of this Parker 61 fountain pen. We flushed as much of the purple and blue ink out of this classic capillary-filler as we could. No dents or deep scratches in the cap. The red barrel and hood show wear from where the cap snugs against it when capped or posting. Really nice overall. You will write an extra-fine line with a little feedback with this vintage pen. 13.8cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5424 Sheaffer Targa
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $99.99
Vintage Pens: 5424: Sheaffer: Targa
We're gonna make someone mad by declaring Sheaffer Targa's vintage, once again. We waffle on this debate all the time, with the design being nearly 50 years old. Either way, this is a beautiful pen. We aren't sure if this is the 1970s "Gold Checked" model or the 1990s "Geometric" model. Each was given the same model number of 1007. Each was basically the same pen. Our vintage pen is in good working order with an original Sheaffer aerometric-style converter that works. We flushed the pen and gave the nib a sonic cleaning, but a little hint of black ink refuses to leave the converter entirely. Its nib writes a very nice extra-fine to fine line that seems a little dry to us. There is a hint of feedback, but we don't find it too distracting. Click the headline for close-ups. The pen looks good with only a few little traces of wear from us. The black section/grip shows more wear than the gold-plated cap and barrel. 13.5cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5408 Esterbrook Transition
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $69.99
Vintage Pens: 5408: Esterbrook: Transition
As Esterbrook switched from Dollar Pens to the J-model line, they ran out of Dollar Pen caps to match with the Dollar Pen barrels. For a brief while, they married the new supply of J-pen caps to the Dollar barrels. This is one of those pens known as an Esterbrook Transition pen. It is SJ sized in the world of J-series pens, the shorter, skinnier model. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. You'll find a little wear and a couple bite marks on the pen. No cracks. Some people actually like scratchy nibs, and they will love this scratchy extra-fine 2556 nib. If you aren't a fan of scratchy nibs, the beauty of these pens is that the nibs unscrew easily for replacement with smoother tips. 11.6cm capped.
