Vintage Pens: 3996: Sheaffer: Balance
It is difficult to find a jade Sheaffer Balance set that isn't mostly discolored, but we think you are going to like this fully restored vintage pen and pencil. Click the headline for close-ups. The pen is two or three thin shades browner than the pencil, but you still see mostly green. Crisp imprint and no cracks. The clip shows brassing on the top, hump and ball. There's a little brassing on the cap band, too. It has a new ink sac. Its 14k gold Lifetime nib writes a very nice extra-fine line with only a little feedback. The pencil is a larger model pencil than we normally see. It looks to be in mint condition with a working refill that still advances and retracts with ease. There's a spare 1.1mm lead under the old, hardened eraser. Pen measures 14.3cm capped.

Vintage Pens: 3994: Sheaffer: 5-30 Combo
Color perfection is almost achieved by this somewhat rare Sheaffer 5-30 Combo. Half fountain pen and half pencil, this is a great, all-purpose writing instrument. The combo writing instrument craze really was going strong in the 1930s and '40s, but Sheaffer mostly stayed out of it. We are glad to report only a small amount of discoloration on the otherwise perfect pearl & black model. It has some light wear but no cracks or serious scratches. The lever seems a little con-caved on one corner. 1 little clamp line on each side of section. A teeny bit of brassing at the end of the pencil cone. The pen is fully restored with a new ink sac, and the pencil is in working order with a lead inside it, as well as an eraser. The 5-30 meant it was a $5 instrument with a 30-year guarantee. You'll write a very smooth extra-fine line with its original 14k gold nib that also has a razor's edge as you write. Almost not quite feedback, just a smooth, sharp point. 15.3cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 3969 Parker 51
Filling Mechanism: Vacuum Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $499.99
Vintage Pens: 3969: Parker: 51
Time to cash in on that grail pen you've always wanted, Parker 51 fans. We have a nearly mint condition Yellowstone/Mustard Yellow Parker 51. There's hardly a trace of wear outside of where the cap snugs against the hood, and even that is feint. When we opened the pen to put in a fresh diaphragm, there was nothing in the barrel. A previous owner had already given the pen as thorough a cleaning as possible. As such, we didn't install.a new diaphragm. We suspect it has seen ink at some point, as light through the pen shows some dark spots under the hood, but, holy cats, this pen is still worthy of a museum. Its gold-filled cap saw more wear. There are a few dimples and scratches. We replaced the missing top jewel with a new, reproduction jewel. Its 14k gold nib is either an extra fine or fine. It could use a really good tuning to become a daily writer, but we suspect most people will want this vintage pen as a display piece.
Vintage Pens: 3883 Parker Duofold
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $249.99
Vintage Pens: 3883: Parker: Duofold
Will it be the burgundy-marble streamlined design or the rare two-toned nib that creates instant salivation in fans of the original Parker Duofold? Click the headline for close-ups to decide for yourself. This vintage pen is a Junior size set that has been fully restored with a new ink sac. No cracks will be found on either instrument. The pen cap has a couple short deep scratches, but they should not deter most collectors and users. The imprint on the barrel is clear. Still working is the 1.1mm lead pencil that has a classic refill cassette in it with one spare lead and a retro-fitted fresh eraser. The pencil shows wear from use, but it has been a reliable friend of writers for nearly 100 years! The rare two-tone 14k gold nib writes an extra-fine line with a little feedback.
Vintage Pens: 3726 Parker 75
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1960-1979   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $99.99
Vintage Pens: 3726: Parker: 75
Parker 75 pens could probably be considered the last daily, luxury fountain pen put out in mass production of the fountain pen era. Originally released in the 1960s, this is a more modern French-made Parker 75. We love the chrome barley pattern. The pen is in good general condition, but there are a couple little dents in the barrel. The biggest one is easy to miss, as it is no larger than the head of one of those colorful sewing pins, so we circled it in the photo. The nasty red oval makes it look worse that it is. Almost nobody would notice it at a casual glance. The pen fills with cartridges or a modern Parker converter, which is included. The nib can be rotated for a better writing angle with the ergonomical section grip. Its 14k gold nib writes an extra-fine line. 12.9cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 3721 Parker 51 Signet
Filling Mechanism: Aerometric Filler
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $249.99
Vintage Pens: 3721: Parker: 51 Signet
Parker 51 fountain pens were already the classy flagship of the company's line in the 1950s, but it really added an extra something else when it made the 14k gold-filled Signet edition! Our vintage pen is DENT FREE! The only wear on the barrel is where the cap closes over the nib! Everything else is either light wear or no wear. It has a great "pli-glass" sac that still looks fairly fresh and works well. You'll write a firm, extra-fine line with its original 14k gold nib. A real treat for using or displaying. 14cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 3247 Parker Duofold Centennial
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $399.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 3247: Parker: Duofold Centennial
Does a pen count as new old stock if it was dipped but never filled? Either way, you will love this modern, preowned Parker Duofold Centennial fountain pen in a reddish-purple swirl. The converter inside it never seems to have been filled, but there was a little ink on the nib. This is the oversize version of the modern Duofold. No cracks, a couple little scuffs on the black tail piece if you look with a magnifying glass. Its 18k, two-tone gold nib is marked extra fine, but we find it writes more of a smooth line closer to a fine. You will not find any initials engraved on the top of the cap. 13.5cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 2284 Sheaffer Secretary
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $499.99
Vintage Pens: 2284: Sheaffer: Secretary
Behold the oversized Sheaffer Secretary vintage pen. A real grail pen. Made of an eye-catching red radite in circa 1926, you'll even get the original 14k Secretary nib. Click the headline to see the special design. Effectively a Sheaffer Lifetime, it was 20% cheaper, had a size 7 nib instead of the size 8 and didn't include the lifetime warranty. However, it was every bit as satisfying. These days, the Sheaffer Secretary is a hard-to-find vintage pen...especially an oversized model in this pen's condition. It has only a little wear to the cap and barrel. The ink sac has been replaced. The imprint is fairly well faded. Its biggest flaws are two hairline cracks in the lip of the pen. In some lights, you can see two slightly discolored/darkened rings around the cap that are only a shade or two darker than the cap. Only a little brassing on the cap band. The nib writes a firm, true extra-fine line, with a little feedback. 13.1cm capped.
