Almost perfect but not quite. Let's get it over with. Look closely at the threads of the barrel. Yes, that is a 2mm square chunk missing. Otherwise this pen is a perfect New Old Stock Conklin Crescent 40. We restored it any way with a new ink sac. Excellent chased black hard rubber with a deep imprint. No brassing. Its 14k gold nib writes a fine to 1mm wide semi-flex line. BUT, that stupid chunk missing makes this pen a risk to break with any flex writing. The pressure could crack the barrel or worse. That is why it is $250 cheaper than the other mint and flawless 40 we have on the site. 13.9cm capped.

Pre-Owned Pens: 4441: Conklin: Rik Will Vermeil
Seeking a treasure for your pen collection? The legendary Rik Will made this custom modern Conklin Crescent pen of vermeil! That is gold plating on top of sterling silver. Still in mint condition, it comes in its original boxes. We don't think it was used beyond a dip. Its ink sac is still in good working order. You'll write a juicy smooth medium line with its 14k gold nib, which is also rarer on these modern Conklins. The only flaws that we have found are on the top flat part of the cap. Just a couple of shallow micro scratches silver often picks up by looking at it funny. You won't notice them unless you are looking for them. This is a large pen in girth and length. 13.8cm capped.

Do you like the effect of a flexible nib but hate all the effort that goes into getting good writing that way? Then you, my friend, will love writing with a factory-fresh stub nib made of 14k gold! Our latest Conklin 40 is N.O.S. with one such nib. We restored the vintage pen with a new ink sac. Crisp chasing, no cracks! The only wear is a tiny bit of brassing on the top and bottom of the pocket clip and on the top of the crescent. The crescent, by the way, has two sides that have imprints. Click the headline for a close-up of the stub! It writes well but subtly, unless you add a little extra pressure to get some dramatic lines amplified. 13.8cm capped.
