Vintage Pens: Esterbrook J-1550
Vintage Pens: 3153 Esterbrook J-1550
Ho ho ho! Our jolly red Esterbrook J-1550 fountain pen is one elf of a vintage pen. We restored it with a new ink sac. J-model Esterbrooks were the widest bodied Esterbrook of the era. It is a little easier to grip for longer periods without cramping. The great part about Esties is that the nibs unscrew and are interchangeable. This one comes with a steel 1550 nib, which was advertised as an extra-fine "bookkeeping" nib. We find that it writes a surprisingly smooth extra-fine line for a stiff steel nib. The pen does have some wear, although there are no cracks. 12.6cm capped.
