Vintage Pens: 5871 Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $999.99  Was: $1,199.99
Vintage Pens: 5871: Wahl-Eversharp: Gold Seal
Perfection in vintage pens is such an elusive target. This Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal gets awfully close. Its "Brazilian Green" or "Bronze Green" finish is stunning without much, if any, discoloration. There is no brassing on the oversized fountain pen except for a tiny sliver on the edge of the lever. Fully restored, both the vintage pen and pencil work well. Under a bright light you can see some shallow scratches on the caps and barrels. You also can see some marks where the pen's cap rubs against the barrel when it closes. Very minor wear, but it didn't just roll off the assembly line. You will write a smooth extra-fine (or fine, depending on how you define extra-fine) line with its 14k gold nib that screws in and out of the pen. You will notice it is not a "Signature" nib, but it was likely a replacement nib the store that sold it used to customize the nib for the original owner. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads. Its biggest flaw is brassing on the nose cone. Pen measures 13.4cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5870 Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: SF
Price: $1,750.00
Vintage Pens: 5870: Wahl-Eversharp: Gold Seal
Where to start?! Oversized, blue-on-blue lapis...a buttery smooth semi-flex nib! Admit it. You're already salivating over this Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal/Decoband. It is one of the best vintage pens we have posted this year. Fully restored with a new ink sac, the fountain pen has few flaws. The barrel is clearly still blue, but it is three or four shades darker than the cap and pencil. The only brassing is on the ball of the pocket clip. No cracks nor scratches. The writing experience is second to none. It can be a buttery smooth extra-fine, but with just a little gentle pressure it can write a 1mm line. The pencil still works with a 1.1mm lead. It has a little brassing on the nose cone and pocket-clip ball. The lead only advances; you have to push it in to retract it. No eraser. Pen measures 13.55cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5865 Parker Thrift Time
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $89.99
Vintage Pens: 5865: Parker: Thrift Time
Some pens are just difficult to define. Our Depression-era Parker looks a lot like a Parker Challenger in a demi size. However, it is the Parker Thrift Time pen. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. A little of the nickel-plated trim is worn away, and there are some bite marks on the blind cap. Yet, the marble design helps to hide the wear. You will write a nice extra-fine line with its 14k gold nib. We don't find the line to be scratchy, but it isn't buttery smooth, either. A slender pen that measures 12.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5846 Parker Deluxe Challenger
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $89.99
Vintage Pens: 5846: Parker: Deluxe Challenger
A shiny vintage pen can brighten anybody's day, and we think this Parker Deluxe Challenger Jr. might brighten your's. We love the vibrant green and black marble design. This pen has been fully restored with a new ink sac. There are no cracks or deep scratches, but there is significant brassing, a little wear and a couple bite marks on the blind tail cap. Nice crisp imprint. You will write a nice fine to fine-medium line with its 14k gold nib. It is on the shorter and slender side. Click the headline for close-ups. 11.8cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5841 Parker Duofold Desk Base
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $199.99
Vintage Pens: 5841: Parker: Duofold Desk Base
If golfing and vintage pens are your passions, we have the ideal desk base for you! This is a Parker Duofold desk set designed to hold two fountain pens. It has the bronze image of a golfer in some very 1920s' looking golfing regalia. How could anyone look so earnest in those pants? Nevertheless, he is a rugged handsome man. A man of business and industry. Personally, we think the paper clip tray is cleverly positioned as a divot from his mighty swing. The two Duofold trumpets appear to be in good condition, as is the green marble (?) base. A price sticker that is likely original is under the base reading that it is a Parker set that originally cost $53.50. No model I.D. number. Sorry, the pens are long gone. This is about a foot long and 8 inches high. It weighs about 5 pounds and will likely cost a little extra to ship than our site can figure out how to ship. Please ask about shipping rates.
Vintage Pens: 5470 Parker Duofold Geometric
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $299.99
Vintage Pens: 5470: Parker: Duofold Geometric
Easily one of our favorite vintage pen designs of all time: the Parker Duofold Geometric! Who doesn't want a pen covered in flying toothbrushes?! Fully restored and ready for action, the fountain pen has a new ink sac. No cracks in the cap or barrel but significant brassing on the trim. You'll also find some wear from use and that the barrel is discolored a couple shades darker than the cap. You'll write a nearly buttery smooth fine line with the 14k gold nib. Cracks won't effect the performance of the nib, but there is a short sideways crack on each side of the nib just above where it enters the section. Click the headline for close ups. The matching pencil shows brassing and wear, but it is in good working order with spare 1.1mm leads.
Vintage Pens: 5739 Parker Thrift Time
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $299.99
Vintage Pens: 5739: Parker: Thrift Time
Parker mastered marketing during the Great Depression. Instead of reducing the price of flagship Vacumatics and Duofolds, Parker Thrift Time pens were essentially Parker Duofolds with bargain-basement pricing. Barely even advertised, these pens were actually decent sellers at stationary and pen shops and helped keep Parker afloat during the darkest days of the Depression. On the collector market, they can be a little difficult to come by. Here is a fully restored green marble Parker Thrift Time with a still-working grey-marble pencil. Click the headline for close ups.
Vintage Pens: 5601 Waterman 2
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: B
Price: $69.99
Vintage Pens: 5601: Waterman: 2
For as handsome as this moss green-grey vintage pen is, it features some of the weaknesses of 1940s Waterman manufacturing. Our Waterman 2 has a crack in the top of the cap and in the lip of the cap. Its pocket clip spins freely. We restored this pen with a new ink sac. You'll find nice Canadian Waterman imprints. Click the headline for a close-up of the 14k gold nib. When you find the sweet spot on the nib, you will write a smooth broad line. It gets a little scratchy when you lose the sweet spot. Oh, and its inkfeed is a modern replacement feed. 12.8cm capped.
