Pre-Owned Pens: : Mont Blanc: Pope Julius II LIMITED to 888
We are offering a Limited Edition Montblanc fountain pen from the patron of the art series. The pen is dedicated to Pope Julius II. This particular pice is the 623rd from the 888. It is solid 18 kt yellow gold (not an overlay), fenestrated like the windows of a Gothic Cathedral to reveal deep claret-colored engraving of wavy guilloche enamel work. The guilloche engraving on the 888 Pope Julius II is not sealed with layered coats of glossy lacquer. The deep and wide guilloche engraving is open and gives the design a visual texture. The pen comes in a thin cardboard box, which is printed with a section from Raphael’s portrait of Pope Julius II in a red Papal mozzetta. Within the cardboard box there is a highly polished rosewood casket that holds the pen. A cast bronze gilt raised medallion is mounted on the front of the presentation casket, and shows Pope Julius II in bas relief profile. The pen is brand new, never was used, not even filled.

Price: $699.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 2001: Mont Blanc: Georg Solti Limited Edition
One of the greatest conductors of the 20th century, Sir Georg Solti dazzled orchestra lovers all over the world. Born in Budapest, Solti would direct the orchestras of Munich, Frankfurt, Vienna, London and Chicago, where he spent the last 20 years of his career. (Hey, we got a little hometown pride in that sorta thing.) Mont Blanc made the limited edition Georg Solti pen as part of its Donations Series, using part of the proceeds to help youth music programs. This luxury pen appears to be like-new and never used. It comes complete with its huge box, booklets and a playing cards for Solti's favorite pastime: bridge. The cards are unopened. The only flaw with any part of the set is that two of the box lid corners are torn. Unfortunately, the box was far too large to show completely in the photo.

Era: 1980-present
Price: $3,199.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 1998: Mont Blanc: Patron of the Arts Marquise de Pompadour
"When Madame Pompadour was on the ballroom floor, said all the gentleman obviously, 'The lady has a well developed...personality.'" More than the bawdy lyrics sung by Dorothy Lamour in the Hope & Crosby "Road to Utopia," the real Marquise de Pompadour was the extremely clever mistress and confidant of France's King Louis XV. Her mastery of court intrigue and support of the arts remains unparalleled. In 2001 the world's top luxury brand paid homage to her with the Mont Blanc Patron of the Arts Marquise de Pompadour limited edition pens. Exquisitely designed, Mont Blanc paired with the porcelain artists at Meissen to create this pen. Click the headline for close-ups. Guaranteed authentic, our's comes complete with papers and boxes--there is a chip on the back of the wooden box. Amazingly, it was actually used. We have cleaned and flushed the pen, which works great, but there is light surface wear on the barrel with some lightly rubbed in wear spots on the piston blind cap.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1996: Mont Blanc: Mythical Creatures Cerberus
Cerberus was the ancient Greek hellhound who guarded the gates of the underworld. He happily ushered in new souls, but he was vicious in his duties denying exit to the souls that had crossed the threshold into the underworld. Many ancient civilizations dating back more than 6,000 years had similar dogs with similar duties. The Mont Blanc Mythical Creatures Cerberus pays tribute to the Greek monster in Asian fashion. One of only 300 pens made, this very limited Mont Blanc features a gold-plated barrel and a porcelain cap created by the legendary Meissen porcelain craftsman in Germany. One of the company's original designs from around 1725 serves as a foundation for this 2008 model. Stickered, new-old-stock, this pen seems never have been used. It comes complete with its boxes, book and unused converter.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1993: Mont Blanc: Mythical Creatures Bird of Paradise
Wild head feathers and a slightly psychotic glint in its eye make this Mont Blanc Mythical Creatures Bird of Paradise our favorite luxury pen of the series. The artists of Meissen base this bird on the Feng-Huang from China. It was the bird of the Empress who symbolized blessings, happiness and peace. Meissen started replicating the splendor of Chinese porcelain in 1710 and created its first Bird of Paradise design on a plate in 1735. Mont Blanc teamed with Meissen to make these beautiful pens. This is the 2005 model, and it appears it was never inked or used. Its 18k gold nib is a medium, and the converter remains free of ink. The pen comes with its complete boxes and a little book.
