6166 Carter’s FrankenPen Filling Mechanism:
Lever FillerEra:
1920-1929 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$125.00Carter's Pens are always a vintage pen lover's treat. When we first discovered this pen in the bottom of a box, we were pretty psyched. As we cleaned and polished it, it became obvious that this pen came from 3 different models of pens. The rounded tail of an oversized Carter's Pen is made of plastic. The squared cap with an orange ring and fine pinstriping is definitely a Carter's Pen cap that is made of hard rubber. And when we got a layer of schmutz off the 14k gold nib, it turned out to be a large Conklin Crescent nib. Oh well. It is still a nice pen. We restored it with a new ink sac. You will write a smooth, wet medium line with its gold nib. Heavy brassing on the cap trim and a crack in the lip of the cap. Click the headline for close-ups. 13.6cm capped.

6164 Wahl-Eversharp Gregg Filling Mechanism:
Lever FillerEra:
1950-1959 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$39.99We love giving vintage pens a second chance. This Wahl-Eversharp Gregg has a little bit of a banana bow in it from having once been left in the sun. Nevertheless, we restored it with a new ink sac. Its insides are a bit rusty and it shows plenty of wear. It ain't gonna win any best-in-show awards, but it remains a good daily driver. The thing we find especially fascinating about this pen is its enamel "Gregg" emblem for the top cap jewel and a somewhat rarish 14k gold nib that reads "Gregg" instead of Wahl or Eversharp. To the casual observer, it is easily mistaken for a Wahl-Eversharp Symphony. Click the headline for a close-up. It writes a smooth medium line when you find it sweet spot. It gets a little scratchy outside of its sweet spot. 13.3cm capped.

6008 Parker 51 Filling Mechanism:
Aerometric FillerEra:
1950-1959 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$125.00Its the one and only Parker 51, titan of the vintage pens. Certainly the best-selling vintage luxury pen of all time, this is the 1950s version with an aerometric squeeze-bar filler. Black with a gold-filled cap, it is a go-to crowd pleaser. The cap has a couple little dings and scratches from use. The hood and barrel of the pen likewise show wear from use. Nevertheless, the original "pliglass" ink sac still works great. You'll write a smooth medium line with its 14k gold nib. The blue diamond on the pocket clip indicates this might be an earlier cap or an older replacement clip for the pen. The barrel part of the pen was made a few years after the clip/cap. 13.8cm capped.

6135 Sheaffer Student Pen Filling Mechanism:
TouchDownEra:
1960-1979 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$39.99We think this was an early version of the Sheaffer Student Pens that would be better known as cartridge fillers in the 1960s-'80s. This one sports a TouchDown filler that was first introduced in 1949. We restored this 1960s' pen with a new ink sac and O-ring. You will write a medium line with its slightly scratchy steel nib. Click the headline for close-ups. Overall, the pen is in decent cosmetic condition. Only the top of the nib looks scratched up. 13cm capped.

6044 Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal Filling Mechanism:
Lever FillerEra:
1930-1939 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$249.99Coral is one of the most sought-after colors in the world of vintage pens. We restored this junior-sized Wahl-Eversharp Gold Seal pen in coral with a new ink sac. The coral is a little discolored, which you can see in contrast to its matching pencil. The pen has a 14k gold "Signature" nib that unscrews and is marked as a medium. You will write a nice medium line that is both smooth and has a touch of feedback. No chips or cracks. Light brassing on the cap bands and lever. The pencil has some light brassing but is otherwise stunning. We think it works and will update after tracking down our 1.1mm lead. Pen measures 12.1cm capped.

5993 Sheaffer Admiral Filling Mechanism:
SnorkelEra:
1950-1959 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$175.00New Old Stock Sheaffer Snorkel fountain pens are a rare treat. This Sheaffer Admiral is actually our favorite kind of snorkel. We prefer the open 14k gold nibs as smoother, more responsive nibs than the firmer conical Triumph nibs. We replaced the pen's O-ring, but the point seal and sac performed as good as new with water. There might be a little shop wear on this pen, but there are no significant blemishes. Click the headline for close-ups. 14.2cm capped.

6028 Sheaffer Imperial II Filling Mechanism:
TouchDownEra:
1960-1979 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$49.99Our parade of Sheaffer Imperial II fountain pens continues with this vintage pen. Click the headline for close-ups. It is a nice grey model, but you can see a scar on its section. You'll also see the top of its nib tipping area is a bit chewed up. You will find the nib writes a smooth medium line at a low angle of attack. However, the more vertically you hold the pen, the finer and scratchier the nib gets. We restored the pen with a new ink sac and O-ring. 13.6cm capped.

6107 Parker 51 Filling Mechanism:
Aerometric FillerEra:
1950-1959 Fountain Pen Nib Size:
MPrice:
$125.00Its imprint is faded, but we think we spy a 1951 date code on this Parker 51 fountain pen. There's a burgundy barrel with a gold filled cap. The cap looks pretty darned good, but you can see some big scars on the pen's hood. Click the headline for close-ups. Happily enough, the aerometric filler is still working great with its original pli-glass sac. You will write a nice smooth medium line with its 14k gold nib. There's a pearl-grey "jewel" on top of the cap. 13.7cm capped.
