Vintage Pens: 1868: Sheaffer: 500
Every writer needs a good, reliable pen to use in the trenches of life, no matter where it takes you. We have one such friend in this vintage pen known as a Sheaffer 500. Fully restored with a fresh ink sac, you can write all day with it. Heavy brassing on the cap band, light brassing on the pocket clip and some wear on the cap and barrel only signify that this was a trusty pen back in the day that is ready for more action now. You can still see through the inkview window, although it is a dark amber. The two-tone 14k gold nib writes a fine line pretty well. 13.5cm capped.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1552 Sheaffer Valor
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $299.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 1552: Sheaffer: Valor
Subtle sepia clouds of copper swirl through the polished celluloid finish of this high-end Sheaffer Valor fountain pen. Although it had a short production run, it was the flagship pen of Sheaffer for a season or two in the 2000s. Ours comes with its laquered box, papers, converter and a few ink cartridges. If it was used, it was only used once or twice. The inlaid 14k gold nib writes a buttery smooth medium line. As it is the only Sheaffer pen that we are aware of that was made in Italy, we wonder if Stipula or Montegrappa lent them a hand with this incredible celluloid. 15cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 1924 Sheaffer Valiant Admiral
Filling Mechanism: Snorkel
Era: 1950-1959
Price: $85.00
Vintage Pens: 1924: Sheaffer: Valiant Admiral
Here's a riddle wrapped inside a mystery. This Sheaffer Snorkel is giving us fits. It has an Valiant cap that matches the burgundy Admiral body, which has the most buttery smooth 14k medium (M2) nib. Only Sheaffer Admirals had open, gold monotone nibs. Normally, we'd say it is a married set, BUT the imprint is a little off, too. "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. / Fort Madison, Iowa, URSA / Made in USA." Did you notice the out-of-place "R"? It is actually larger than the USA font, falling between and on top of the "U.S". We don't know if that gives any significance to the pen, but you sure don't see many typos like that in the imprint. We restored the seals and gaskets, and this pen is writing and filling like new. No cracks, only light wear. 14.2cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 1921 Sheaffer Sentinel
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $29.99
SOLD!
Pre-Owned Pens: 1921: Sheaffer: Sentinel
Reviving the Sentinel name, Sheaffer brought forth this fountain pen in the 1980s or '90s. It bears a striking resemblance to the Mont Blanc Noblesse, which is unusual for Sheaffer designers. Still it is a nice slender preowned fountain pen in excellent condition. The alloy nib is marked both "F-4" and "M,"over the years those would imply two conflicting nib designations. Either way, it writes a nice, smooth fine-medium line with only a hint of feedback. It uses cartridges or a converter but comes with neither. It does include its original box and papers. 13.4cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 1771 Sheaffer Prelude
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 1771: Sheaffer: Prelude
Sheaffer keeps going strong with popular pens such as its Prelude. This long-running model features easy cartridge/converter filling and comes with a converter. Gently used, you can see where the snap cap started to scratch and wear on the tail of the pen. Otherwise, the pen is in very good condition. The golden nib is marked as a medium and writes smoothly. Vintage Pens: 1866 Sheaffer 3-25 Orange
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $99.99
SOLD!
Vintage Pens: 1866: Sheaffer: 3-25 Orange
We get Parker "Big Reds" by the gross, but this is our first orange Sheaffer from the 1920s! A Sheaffer 3-25, the model number designates that it was a $3 pen with a 25-year warrantee. It is a really handsome slender, junior-size vintage pen. We have fully restored it with a new ink sac. The imprint is legible but faded in parts. The black threads were a factory repair in the 1920s or '30s. The orange-colored material proved to be a little fragile, and they'd replace broken orange thread pieces with spliced in black ones. There are two teeny hairline cracks that are very short sprouting from the place where the orange and black meet. There are a couple of hairline cracks in the lip of the cap, too, but all the cracks seem stable, as long as you don't post the cap. There is heavy brassing in the back of the cap band and a little on the ball of the pocket clip. The original inkfeed and 14k gold nib write a firm fine line. 10.8cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 1851 Sheaffer Balance II
Filling Mechanism: Ballpoint
Era: 1980-present
Price: $25.00
SOLD!
Pre-Owned Pens: 1851: Sheaffer: Balance II
Paying tribute to their famed Balance pens of the 1930s, Sheaffer's Balance II ballpoint pen delivers the classic jade celluloid design of the vintage fountain pen in a convenient twist-action ballpoint pen. We installed a brand-new Sheaffer ink cartridge. Our preowned pen is perfect EXCEPT for the large chip missing around the clip's anchor point. Click the headline font to see the damage upclose. The clip is a bit loose, but overall the pen works very well. A great daily user for someone who wants to keep this writing instrument off the poor Island of Lost Pens. 13.8cm capped.
