Vintage Pens: 2268: Sheaffer: Sentinel
We have no idea who Solly Schraeder was, but Solly had a great name. Solly also had a great vintage pen in this Sheaffer Sentinel. We fully restored this great piece of fountain pen engineering with a new O-ring and point seal. Somebody else had seemingly put in a new ink sac before we found it. The best part of this pen is that it has a first-year solid 14k gold snorkel! Solly put this pen to good use, but it only has light to moderate surface wear. No cracks, deep scarring scratches or dents. The two-tone Triumph 14k gold nib writes a firm fine line. 14.2cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 2256 Sheaffer Prelude
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $49.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 2256: Sheaffer: Prelude
Broad nibs are seemingly very rare for us to find on modern Sheaffer Prelude fountain pens. Luckily, this is one of them! This two-tone steel nib writes a very nice, smooth broad line. Click the headline to see the nib close up. The rest of the pen is fairly standard. There are light traces of wear from use. There are several tiny chips in the finish of the pen's tail. The pre-owned pen comes complete with its Sheaffer converter. It also uses Sheaffer cartridges. 13.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 2262 Sheaffer Lifetime
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $49.99
SOLD!
Vintage Pens: 2262: Sheaffer: Lifetime
In our humble opinion, you can't beat the incredible quality of the Sheaffer Lifetime nibs of the 1920s. The solid 14k gold nib on this Sheaffer Lifetime Jr. writes a very smooth, wet extra fine line! It is incredible. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. The green celluloid has discolored a bit, and the ebonite section is scratched and has a chocolate hazing. There are no cracks in the pen, but there is moderate wear and light scratching in the cap and barrel. The clip and cap band have some brassing. The white dot on the flattop cap meant the pen has a warranty for the lifetime of the original owner's life. 11.7cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 2261 Sheaffer Craftsman
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1940-1949
Price: $59.99
Vintage Pens: 2261: Sheaffer: Craftsman
Striking red-and-black stripes of the rarer "carmine" coloring on this Canadian-made Sheaffer Craftsman Lifetime looks good. We restored it with a new ink sac. The cap has a small hairline crack in the lip. Both the cap and barrel have moderate wear and scratches. Maybe 1% brassing on cap ring. The firm two-tone 14k gold nib writes an extra fine line with a little feedback. The section is in solidly, but it isn't 100% "in," as you can see in the photos. Click the headline for close-ups. 12cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 2255 Sheaffer Statesman
Filling Mechanism: Snorkel
Era: 1950-1959
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 2255: Sheaffer: Statesman
One of the rarer colors of the Sheaffer snorkel line of pens is this Buckskin Tan (It looks pink to us, but what do we know?). It is especially exciting to see the matching white dot cap! We have fully restored this Sheaffer Statesman with a new ink sac, O-ring and point seal. The conical "triumph" nib is made of "Palladium Silver," writing a delightfully smooth, wet medium line. No cracks, light surface wear. Hmmm. Great Rube Goldberg filling system, rarer color, great writing nib...what's not to love?! 14.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 2259 Sheaffer Lifetime TouchDown
Filling Mechanism: TouchDown
Era: 1940-1949
Price: $79.99
Vintage Pens: 2259: Sheaffer: Lifetime TouchDown
Forest green makes for a standout color on this very early wide-body Sheaffer Lifetime Touchdown. We restored it with a new ink sac and O-ring. The pen is very handsome, but there is some light-moderate wear on the cap and barrel. The imprint is strong, but you can see a little bulge warm from where the cap hugged the section grip. Click the headline for bigger photos of it. The two-tone 14k gold nib writes an extra-extra-fine line. It is very firm, but it is a dream pen for extra-fine nib fans. A great vintage pen. 13.3cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 2233 Sheaffer Balance Millennium
Filling Mechanism: Ballpoint
Era: 1980-present
Price: $124.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 2233: Sheaffer: Balance Millennium
Sheaffer produced a beautiful limited edition series of pens as we entered the new millennium. Inspired by their greatest pens of the 1920s and '30s, this ballpoint Sheaffer Balance Millennium sports a fantastic blue marble cap and barrel that recreate the shape of the 1920s' Sheaffer Lifetime torpedo pens. Actually made in the U.S.A., this pen is in like-new condition. The twist action of the ballpoint mechanism works perfectly, and the ballpoint refill works well, although we have no idea how much ink is left. 14cm.
Pre-Owned Pens: 2232 Sheaffer Fountain Pen
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present
Price: $39.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 2232: Sheaffer: Fountain Pen
All but overlooked on the modern pen scene, Sheaffer still makes a good pen. Long since removed from the Sheaffer family, the company's engineers still design a quality writing instrument. This modern Sheaffer looks like a little brother to the Prelude model, it fills using either a Sheaffer Converter or Cartridge. Althought, it doesn't come with any, it does come in its original box in like-new condition. The steel nib is marked medium and writes a smooth fine-medium on a dip. Minimal wear on the pen. The box has a layer missing on the back where a sticker had been pulled off. 13.8cm capped.
