Pre-Owned Pens: 5983: Sheaffer: Agio
Keep it simple. Sometimes that is the best advice. Who needs an expensive luxury pen when a smooth-writing basic Sheaffer Agio will do? Elegant with black and golden trim, you can still impress at work and enjoy the fountain pen experience anywhere you go. Our preowned pen comes with a smooth golden alloy nib. It is marked "M" for medium, but we find it writes closer to a fine line. It fills with Sheaffer cartridges and converters, but it comes with neither. Slender and 13cm capped.

Here it is! The grail pen of all grail pens...a factory fresh 1928 Parker Duofold Senior set in mandarin yellow! Fully restored with a new ink sac, this pen looks as close to new as a 96-year-old pen can. Click the headline for close-ups. Check out the milling on the end caps. So crisp. The imprint is deep and crisp, too. Original nib and "Christmas tree" inkfeed, of course. No cracks or scars. No brassing. This is pretty much as good as it gets. The pencil is in good working order, with just one little blemish on the golden crown of the tail. Pen measures 13.9cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 6072 Montegrappa Extra 1930
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $899.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 6072: Montegrappa: Extra 1930
Montegrappa Extra 1930 is a confusing name for a pen, as it made many decades after 1930. Nevertheless, it was made with all of the elegance of that decade's luxury design. Montegrappa is easily our favorite Italian pen manufacturer. It uses the most beautiful of celluloids, solid precious metal trim and its nibs are soooo damned smooth. This preowned luxury pen sports a "green marble" design and sterling silver trim. It was gently used and looks like it is in mint condition on a passing glance. Yet, a very close inspection reveals some wear to the celluloid where it rattled around a desk drawer for a little while. However, you really need to look closely to see it. You will write a delightfully smooth medium line with its 18k gold nib. Oddly, we don't see the gold purity stamp on the nib, but these pens all came with 18k gold nibs to the best of our knowledge. Pre-Owned Pens: 5971 Visconti Rembrandt
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5971: Visconti: Rembrandt
Italian pen manufacturer Visconti began making tributes to the great painters of Europe. This is a Visconti Rembrandt in an ivory color. One of the neat innovations with this pen is a magnetic cap closure. Fill it with the included Schmidt standard international converter. You also can use like cartridges. Barely used, this pen only has light wear. Click the headline for close-ups. You'll write a wet medium line with its steel nib. There's a bit of feedback but nothing too bad. 14cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5961 Stipula Adagio
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $149.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5961: Stipula: Adagio
How is it Italian craftsmen and women seem to come up with some of the most beautiful pen designs in modern pens? We love the stunning amber celluloid that seems to an ancient essence found in artifacts from Rome and around the Mediterranean. On really close examination you will find little bits of wear and damage, but it is impossible to see at a passing glance. You fill the pen with a piston activated by the little silver disc on the tail. It writes a very smooth medium line for a steel nib. It also includes its box and papers. Click the headline for close-ups. 13.5cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5927 Krone Gradient
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $499.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5927: Krone: Gradient
Limited edition pens are always fun, and our Krone Gradient Coral Red is no exception. What makes it especially interesting to us is that it is #4 of 388! We've never had a numbered pen in the single digits before. Mother of pearl blazes into a blazing coral red on the barrel. The brushed steel cap and blind cap serve as nice contrast. Overall, the pen looks great but there are two short but deep scratches on the steel cap. Click the headline for close-ups. You'll write a smooth medium line with its 18k gold nib. We find it makes little scrunching sounds at the top of ascenders and bottom of descenders. You'll also notice it is a bouncy nib capable of line variation. Just be careful, as 18k gold is very soft and easily bent out of shape. 13.6cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5909 Parker 21
Filling Mechanism: Aerometric Filler
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $29.99
Vintage Pens: 5909: Parker: 21
Cashing in on the enormous success of its Parker 51, Parker decided to create a more affordable version of the pen to reach even more customers. This pen is the Parker 21. One of the biggest differences between them is that the 21 has a steel nib, and the 51 has a gold nib. Our vintage pen is in good working order, complete with a working original pli-glass ink sac. Its nib is more of a fine-medium that has a little feedback at the tops and bottoms of letters. You should be able to see a big crack in the barrel where it threads to the section. Don't grip it too hard or use to much pressure, as you will get it to wiggle in your hand a bit. Click the headline for a close-up. 13.4cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5897 Parker Duofold
Filling Mechanism: Vacuum Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $75.00
Vintage Pens: 5897: Parker: Duofold
Not every vintage pen is going to be the belle of the ball. Today's Parker Duofold from 1942 seems to have been somebody's loyal workhorse. A great deal of the cap band is heavily brassed. There's a hairline crack in the cap lip running up under the cap band. The pen shows overall wear, and the 14k gold nib looks a little wonky. Click the headline for close-ups. HOWEVER, we restored it with a new diaphragm, and it writes surprisingly well. You'll find it is a wet medium with a touch of feedback. It actually writes much better than it looks. Perfect for a daily driver that doesn't mind another ding or two. 13.2cm capped.
