Vintage Pens: 2916: Wahl-Eversharp: Lowey Symphony
Hard-to-find Lowey caps are always able to put a smile on our faces. The split-level cap design is a space age effect that we love from the post-war era. The Eversharp Symphony is an otherwise nice, basic lever-filling vintage pen. It has been fully restored with a new ink sac. Showing moderate to heavy wear with scratches in places, it writes a nice wet, fine line with its original 14k gold nib. 14cm capped.

Stop to think about it for a second. The nation was barely recovering from a cataclysmic financial crisis and diving into the most horrendous war the world had ever seen...and people still had the wherewithal to design a kick-ass art deco fountain pen. Eversharp Skyline pens are head-turners that are among the most aerodynamic looking vintage pens ever made. They also were designed with aviation in mind! They were advertised as being leak-proof on flights. The breather tube in them doesn't work as well as hoped at equalizing pressure in the pen, but they were trying. This one is restored with a new ink sac. It is burgundy and has above-average wear, a dent, no cracks and a little brassing. The 14k gold nib writes a nice extra-fine line. It also lifts a little off the feed if you use too much pressure, but it fits in position with a touch of top pressure. 12.5cm capped.

Not only were the Eversharp Skyline fountain pens revolutionary, so were the pencils. Revolutionary because it was Eversharp that invented the click pencil that we take for granted today! Made of a deep burgundy barrel and 14k gold-filled other half, this vintage pencil is unique in that it doesn't have a metal nose cone! It is in great working order. Remove the tail clicker button to reveal where the 1.1mm lead refills go. It has the name "R.A. Staffenson" engraved on the burgundy barrel, but there isn't a lot of other noticeable wear. No dents, cracks or deep scratches. The eraser is petrified. 13.2cm.

This pen is black with a 24k gold tip. The body has some wear and the pen does work. I'm not sure what age the pen is. The pen was in a box with other items found in an antique store.
