Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter

Many consider the Waterman C/F to be the first of the modern-era pens, although it is a classic vintage pen. Why? It was, effectively, the first pen to use disposable plastic ink cartridges. Although a success, it was short lived. The biggest problem for vintage collectors is that the Waterman C/F doesn't use any modern cartridges or converters. Waterman wasn't using standard international cartridges in the 1950s, as the concept was yet to be invented. If you find a 1950s cartridge, you can refill it with a syringe to use this pen. Unfortunately, it doesn't include an original cartridge. The pen looks great, except for that big crack in the tail visible in the photo. You will write a medium line with its 14k gold nib. We got this pen from a friend who loves to tinker. When we got this pen to sell, we said, "Wait a second, what's this Danitrio Brillante doing with a 14k gold Sailor nib?" Then we remembered where we got the pen. This preowned pen is a limited edition numbered 101 of 200. Given that the pen originally came with a steel nib, we think this wrong nib is an upgrade. The German luxury pen market is rather flooded, and Xezo is frequently overlooked. Nevertheless, this is a really handsome pen with platinum-plated trim and a mother-of-pearl design. It is numbered 204, but we don't know how many were made. You'll fine its two-tone steel nib writes a smooth line that we think is closer to medium, though the nib says it is a fine point. It comes with a Limited Edition box, although we aren't certain it is the correct box. It also comes with a converter and polishing cloth. Minimal wear from use. 14.4cm capped.

Rounding out our collection of Levenger Verona fountain pens is this purple model. We love how the acrylic undulates from light to dark purple. Glittering blue acrylic swirls make this Levenger Verona fountain pen a real stunner. It looks almost like new with minimal wear. It comes complete with a standard international converter, but it also can use the same style cartridges. You will write a nice medium line with its two-tone 14k gold nib. Odds are pretty strong that these Levenger Verona fountain pens were made by Stipula in Italy. Its deep silvery-grey swirls reminds us of the stunning hour or so before a daylong summer thunderstorm over the suburbs of Chicago. Those were days where the air felt electrical and one's mind tingled with the proximity to raw nature and a desire to take the time to write a story, the scent of fresh rain mingling with the scent of an open bottle of ink. Not necessarily rare, Waterman LeMan fountain pens are highly sought luxury pens. Elegant, smooth, dependable...what's not to love. Our preowned pen is in excellent condition with only minimal wear from use. It also includes its box and converter. Especially nice is its two-tone 18k gold nib. You will write a very smooth medium line with it. One of the things we really like about these lux pens compared to other brands is that it has a brass barrel and cap under the black lacquer. Parker was rather genius for resurrecting its classic Duofold design for a modern luxury pen. Our Parker Duofold Centennial in burgundy is a handsome classic.
