Pre-Owned Pens: 4391: Aurora: Optima
Charcoal grey marble looks stunning on the Aurora Optima fountain pen in mint condition. Fill it easily with a piston, and you'll never want to stop writing with it. Not a trace of wear can be found on this pen. Its 14k gold nib writes a very nice extra-fine line. No feedback with a light touch. Otherwise you might feel a normal amount of feedback for an extra-fine. A viewing window makes it easy to know if you have enough ink in the pen. Nice girth. Incredible Italian craftsmanship. 12.4cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4377 Faber Castell Graf von Faber Castell
Filling Mechanism: Pencil
Era: 1980-present
Price: $149.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4377: Faber Castell: Graf von Faber Castell
Unusual branding is the hallmark of the flagship writing instruments from Faber-Castell. It is a little confusing that the top-of-the-line for Faber-Castell is called "Graf von Faber-Castell." Yet, these are really amazing writers. This pencil is made of ebony wood and sterling silver. Twist the tail cap to advance .5mm leads. Pull off the tail end cap to reveal the eraser, which is a little used. No wear blemishes the ebony wood, but the silver shows light wear from use. (Breathe on silver and it shows wear. LOL!) 14.1cm.
Vintage Pens: 4375 Esterbrook Dollar Pen
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1940-1949
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 4375: Esterbrook: Dollar Pen
Esterbrook Dollar Pens are always a little bit of a rare treat, but check out the rare triple-incised bands at the bottom of the cap. Click the headline for a close-up. We restored this pen with a new ink sac. The outside of the cap and barrel show a little wear from use. No cracks and the clip is on tightly. We missed it initially, but there's a pock mark on the flat tail of the barrel. Cigarette burn? Not sure. You'll write a firm, fine line with its upgraded 9556 nib. These were Esterbrook's top-of-the-line nibs. Of course, if you don't like it, the best part about these pens is that the nibs screw out, and there are at least 3 dozen alternate point sizes to choose from. Plus, this comes with a matching click pencil. Actually, pencil tail cap seems married to the barrel. Works. .9mm lead. Pen measures 12.1cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4363 Conklin Rolled-Gold Pencil
Filling Mechanism: Pencil
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $99.99
Vintage Pens: 4363: Conklin: Rolled-Gold Pencil
We aren't sure what Conklin called this pinstriped pencil made of rolled gold, but it is a very handsome taste of the 1920s. It is marked "Patented July 6, 1920." We suspect is was made a couple years later. This pen is a little more slender than the 4B and 5V models, but it is the same length. New Old Stock, it is dent and damage free. Twist the nose cone to advance and retract the 1.1mm lead. Pull off the tail blind cap to reveal a hardened eraser. Unscrew the eraser to reveal some spare leads. 13.3cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4362 Conklin 5V
Filling Mechanism: Pencil
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $99.99
Vintage Pens: 4362: Conklin: 5V
Jazz Age style and sophistication shines through on this new old stock Conklin 5V pencil. A "w" pattern flys down the barrel of this vintage pencil on finely wrought pinstripes. Marked rolled gold, all of the imprints and design features are strong and crisp. Patented on July 6, 1920, we suspect this one was made more likely in 1924 or '25. Twist the nose cone to advance and retract the 1.1mm lead. Pull off the tail cap to reveal an unused hardened eraser. Unscrew the eraser to reveal spare leads. No brassing, dents or scratches. Looks like it just left the factory in Toledo, Ohio. 13.3cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4338 Sheaffer Lifetime
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: Stub
Price: $599.99
Vintage Pens: 4338: Sheaffer: Lifetime
Almost perfect...but not quite. We think this new old stock Sheaffer Lifetime dates between 1922 and '23. Made before Sheaffer began using the famed white dot, there is so much that is amazing on this pen. It is a factory fresh model, complete with its original price and nib sticker! It is a factory stub nib, made before Sheaffer put serial numbers on its Lifetime nibs! Under the nib is the smooth, vent-less more spear-shaped hard rubber inkfeed...before they made the flat, toothed feed with little vents to collect ink! Its 14k gold nib writes a very nice fine stub line. The external cosmetics are as close to perfect as possible. We discovered only one problem with the pen when we went to replace the petrified old ink sac. Its sac nipple has a crack. we resacced the pen using rubber cement to help seal that crack, but there is no guaranteed for how long it will hold. Otherwise the pen is both rare and perfect. Click the headline for close-ups. 13.6cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4334 Sheaffer Lifetime Set
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: Stub
Price: $1,599.99
Vintage Pens: 4334: Sheaffer: Lifetime Set
Collecting New Old Stock oversized Sheaffer Lifetime pens is easy with this 4 set. Each pen has its original price stickers! Extra-Fine, Fine, Medium and STUB! We added new ink sacs. Click the headline to see an image of the 14k gold Lifetime nibs sized extra fine and stub. The extra-fine, fine and stub pens were made in 1924 or '5. These are black-hard-rubber pens with the first White Dot logo for Lifetime pens. Each nib is also accurate without the serial number. Each inkfeed is the "new" ribbed feed with the ink collectors on the sides of the feed. The medium pen is older, '22 or '23! Pre-white dot with the smooth, spear-shaped inkfeed! Minimal if any chocolate hazing. Minimal if any wear. Crisp imprints! THE PROBLEM! Two stickers don't seem to match the nibs. The fine & med. nibs look like extra fines. All 4 pens in this condition are rare, regardless of the nibs. More pics available.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4297 Omas Legni Pregiati
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $699.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4297: Omas: Legni Pregiati
Exotic woods were the theme of several limited edition Omas pens. This Omas Legni Pregiati is made of a dense South American wood known as Lignum Vitae. Beautifully cut and lacquered to offer the traditional Omas piston filling mechanism, you'll find this a very light-weight and delightful writing instrument. Sporting an 18k gold nib with platinum plated accents, it writes a fine line. Only a little chip in the lacquer visible in the photo at the top of the cap mars this pen's striking beauty. Omas even considered the dangers of ink staining the outside of the wooden section and barrel, so it included a special black plastic sleeve to protect the pen when filling it. Finally, its presentation box is inspired by "the 'box of woods' made by master shipwrights as a gift to the buyer of a new ship." 14.9cm capped.
