Vintage Pens: 4993 Parker 51
Filling Mechanism: Vacuum Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $125.00
Vintage Pens: 4993: Parker: 51
Born in 1946, this Parker 51 is considered the Teal Blue with a gold-filled cap. The most unique thing about this pen is its cartouche for initials. We don't see many of these caps, especially without initials already engraved in them. We restored this vintage pen with a new diaphragm. Its 14k gold nib writes a smooth fine line. It isn't buttery smooth. It doesn't really have much feedback either. This is one of those nibs that is a little difficult to describe, but it is a pleasant writer. The cap has a couple tiny dimples on it. The hood and barrel show some wear from daily use. No cracks or deep scratches, but lots of light scratches and surface wear when you take a really close look. Still, at writing distance, no one will see the wear. 13.7cm capped.
Pencil: 4938 Pelikan Souveran D800
Filling Mechanism: Pencil
Era: 1980-present
Price: $199.99
Pencil: 4938: Pelikan: Souveran D800
Up the elegance of your math game with a luxurious Pelikan Souveran D800 pencil. These black-and-green designs with gold-plated trim really stand out from the pack. What really stands out with this pencil is that it barely shows any wear, yet it was made in West Germany! That means it is at least 30 years old. The only flaw we see in it is a bit of missing plating on the side of the clip band. You will find it works great. Advance the .5mm lead with a side-twist of the tail cap. Under the tail cap you will find a hardened eraser and some spare leads. Its logo on top is a gold-plated disc with a black mama pelican and two chicks. We think this is the largest size pencil Pelikan makes in the Souveran line. 14.1cm.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4885 Delta Israel 50
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $799.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4885: Delta: Israel 50
Delta celebrated the 50th anniversary of the birth of the modern nation of Israel with the limited edition Delta Israel 50 in 1998. We celebrate the beauty and design of this pen 25 years later and are amazed by its near mint condition. The set features a ballpoint pen, fountain pen and unopened bottle of ink, still sealed in its bag from the factory. Sterling silver trim accents the rich blue of the cap and tail of this pen. An amazing, 3-dimensional forms from the pearl grey flecks in the barrel. Used only once or twice, these pens look as good as new. The ballpoint comes with a working black Parker-style refill. You will write a smooth medium line with the fountain pen's two-tone, 18k gold nib. The set also includes its original boxes. Although the pens are perfect, the blue clamshell box is a little beat-up on the corners and doesn't close with perfect alignment.
Vintage Pens: 4990 Waterman 56
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $549.99
Vintage Pens: 4990: Waterman: 56
Every now and again we post a pen that makes us ask, "Why aren't we hoarding this just for ourselves?" This Waterman 56 is just flat-out amazing. One of the larger Waterman sizes, this one has a perfect ripple pattern on "red" (i.e. orange) hard rubber. The cap and barrel are flawless. Unfortunately, there's brassing on the cap band, but the rest of the vintage pen is remarkable. We restored it with a new ink sac. You will write a sumptuously smooth...oh, yes, full-on buttery smooth...medium line with its 14k gold nib. Click the headline for a close-up. It says manifold, but the smoothness of the nib doesn't make it feel too rigid. 14cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4884 Aurora 88 Demonstrator
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $599.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4884: Aurora: 88 Demonstrator
Few pens are as iconic in Italy as the Aurora 88. This limited edition Aurora 88 Demonstrator is numbered 508 and is a gorgeous feast for the eyes. We do not think it has ever seen ink! There is no trace of staining on the white piston filler. Moving smoothly up and down, the piston appears to be in perfect working order. We have not dipped the pen to avoid any staining. Its 18k gold nib is marked "M" for medium. Coming complete with its original box and bottle of ink, it is difficult to think you'll find a better example. True, the box has seen some wear over the years, but it has done its job protecting the precious cargo within. 13.6cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 4910 Sheaffer Balance Lifetime
Filling Mechanism: Lever Filler
Era: 1930-1939   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $399.99
Vintage Pens: 4910: Sheaffer: Balance Lifetime
Sheaffer Lifetime Balance pens are among our favorite vintage pens. We restored this pen with a new ink sac. This pen is fantastic. It has great color, maybe only 15% discoloration or so. No cracks. It has some light wear that was polished out, but you can still see a ring around the tail where the cap posted. There's a little brassing on the ball of the clip. Engraved on the side of the pen barrel is "Geo H Barnhart." You will write a smooth, fine line with its 14k two-tone gold nib. The matching pencil has a little more wear, but it has a complicated work habit. The pencil works when you work the mechanism by hand with the tail cap removed. Yet, the tail cap doesn't seem to grip tight enough to advance and retract the 1.1mm lead. At the same time, the cap holds tightly enough to keep from falling off. Spare leads are under the hardened eraser.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4883 Aurora Afrika
Filling Mechanism: Rollerball
Era: 1980-present
Price: $299.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4883: Aurora: Afrika
In the early 2000s, Aurora paid tribute to several continents in the form of limited edition pens. You are looking at the Aurora Afrika rollerball pen. We love the subtly glittering sunshine yellow-orange with black veins. There's an onyx top jewel and a great barrel imprint. The preowned pen looks brand new, and it comes with a working blue Pilot G2 refill! Yes! You could use a boring standard rollerball refill or these also accept the G2, which is loved by most. Complete with boxes and papers. 13cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4857 Omas Milord
Filling Mechanism: Rollerball
Era: 1980-present
Price: $399.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4857: Omas: Milord
Omas calls this pen a Milord, but it is at least as thick, if not as long as a Paragon. That not withstanding, this is a special edition Omas Milord Ebony Wood. The wood is dark, rich and warm, almost black. The section grip and trim are sterling silver. It comes with a working blue 8126 refill. It also comes with its original boxes and papers. If this pen was used, it was used very gently and sparingly. There might be hints of tarnish on the corners of the cap band, but we didn't want to accidentally polish off the tarnish-resisting agents used by Omas. 14.5cm capped.
