Pencil: 4749 Parker Sonnet
Era: 1980-present
Price: $75.00
Pencil: 4749: Parker: Sonnet
Parker first released its super famous Sonnet line in 1994. Among the first colors were two beautiful Chinese lacquers. This is one such first-run Parker Sonnet in the design pattern of "Chinese Laque Vision Foncé." It is an exquisite pen, much like a Japanese urushi design in black with amber-sparkle highlights. You can see a spot of wear on the wide, gold-plated cap band and lighter wear elsewhere on the pencil. Twist the tail cap to advance and retract .5mm leads. Under the cap, you will find a working but mostly worn down eraser and spare leads. 13.4cm

Click the headline for a close up of its two-tone 18k gold nib. Its inkfeed is marked M for medium, but we think it writes like a fine with a little feedback. Included with the pen is a Parker converter. You also can use Parker cartridges. 13.3cm capped.
Pencil: 3710 Faber Castell NFL Pencils
Era: 1980-present
Price: $49.99
Pencil: 3710: Faber Castell: NFL Pencils
Today Faber Castell is known for its luxury pencils. Its "Perfect Pencil" retails for $260...and it is just a wood-and-graphite pencil with a platinum cap. Refills for the Perfect Pencil are $10 a pop. Yet, back in the early 1980s, Faber Castell wasn't too big for its britches. These were just regular pencils with NFL teams names on them. Please look closely as the these include the no-longer-with-us Houston Oilers and the no-longer-in Baltimore or San Diego Colts and Chargers! These pens were used to the extent that you see them. Present but rolled over are the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys and missing are the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. What you see is what you get. Yet, a great historical keepsake for the pencil-loving NFL fan in your life.
Pencil: 4660 Wahl-Eversharp Woodgrain
Era: 1920-1929
Price: $49.99
Pencil: 4660: Wahl-Eversharp: Woodgrain
Can a vintage pencil get a more iconic and classic look than this orange hard rubber Wahl-Eversharp with a woodgrain pattern? This pencil is in close to mint condition. No scratches or blemishes that we can see. It works beautifully, advancing a 1.1mm lead. We hear spare leads in it, but we aren't sure how to access them. The clip and topper are gold-filled, but the nose cone is a silver-steel color. Leads advance but don't retract unless you push it back in. 13.1cm capped.

Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4615: Aurora: Thesi
Italian designers were never ones who felt compelled to stick to standard designs and conventions. The folks at Aurora seemed to reconceptualize the pen when they created the Aurora Thesi. It almost looks like a avant garde cigarette lighter. However, this slender black-and-golden beauty is a click ballpoint pen. You can see the slide clicker on the top horizontal line of the pen in the photo. It comes with a working blue refill, but we do not know how easily replaced these refills are. Light wear on the pen from use. 13.6cm

You advance and retract the refill with a twist of the tail cap. This pre-owned pen makes writing an elegant joy once again. 13cm.

Price: $449.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4613: Namiki Pilot: Galaxy Vanishing Point Raden

You could be looking at a galaxy glittering in the Japanese lacquer, but it is really crushed abalone shells used to recreate the stars in the barrel of this other-worldly fountain pen. You will find this rare pen is in like-new condition without any wear. We think it might have only been filled and written with once or twice. You will write a delightfully smooth medium line with its 18k gold nib. However, as it is a Japanese nib, it might be a little closer to a fine than European medium. Included is its original converter, but we do not have the boxes. 14cm.
