Pre-Owned Pens: 1989: Mont Blanc: Writers Series Virginia Woolfe Set
Who could be afraid of this Mont Blanc Writers Series Virginia Woolfe set of writing instruments? Profoundly elegant, these pens showcase waves rippling through precious resin. (One of Ms. Woolfe's most famous novels was "The Waves.") Rubies stud the pocket clips of the fountain pen, ballpoint pen and pencil. We think the fountain pen was filled once, written dry and put away. The ballpoint and pencil are in excellent working condition without much--if any--trace of wear. We filled the fountain pen with water to flush the old ink. Everything works very smoothly, and this, pen, too, is in excellent condition. Release in 2006, this writers series set is nearly perfect. The box lists the 18k gold nib as a medium. We think it skews a little more broad.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1988: Mont Blanc: Writers Series Friedrich Schiller
Hi-Ho, Silver! Away! Wait? What does the Lone Ranger have to do with the German social critic and playwright Friedrich Schiller?! "William Tell." He wrote the play about the guy so good with a crossbow that he could shoot apples off of heads...which eventually had an overture...which became the theme music for the masked do-gooder of the Old West. Okay, it's a stretch, but it isn't like every school kid learn about Schiller. Mont Blanc paid tribute to him all the same in the year 2000 with this extremely handsome Writers Series set of a fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil. Guaranteed authentic and it comes with its book box, booklet and outer box. All the writing instruments were gently used, showing some very light wear. The fountain pen works well and has been flushed. It also features several scuffs to the finish. Its 18k gold nib writes a medium line. Click headline for close-ups.

Pre-Owned Pens: 1987: Mont Blanc: Writers Series Charles Dickens
Yours won't be a Bleak House when you have this 2001 Mont Blanc Writer's Series Charles Dickens fountain pen on your desk. This very gently used one comes complete with the rarer "Holiday Box" presentation of the regular Writers Series box and papers, plus a special presentation box with red ribbon and a copy of "A Christmas Carol" and two other stories. We used a silver polishing cloth to spruce up the tarnish on the solid sterling silver cap. We also flushed the pen by filling it repeatedly with water. The only trace of wear on the entire pen is where a faint ring has formed where the cap threads on to the barrel. No tail ring, just the area above the cap threads. The two-tone 18k gold nib is a medium that writes like a brand-new pen. Act fast. It might disappear as quickly as David Copperfield...oh, wait. Wrong David Copperfield.
