Pre-Owned Pens: 4056 Sheaffer Balance II
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $125.00
Pre-Owned Pens: 4056: Sheaffer: Balance II
It didn't take long for Sheaffer to catch on to the modern retro pen craze. Around the turn of the millennium, they introduced the Sheaffer Balance II, a nod to the company's venerable Sheaffer Balance of the early 1930s, with a new 18k gold nib that was based on the company's 1940s' "Feather Touch" designs. Unlike the original this preowned pen fills with an included Sheaffer converter or (not included) Sheaffer cartridge. We love the blue marbled celluloid of the modern pen. If only the vintage pens had the same color! You'll write a smooth extra-fine with its two-tone 18k gold nib. 14.2cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4055 Conklin All-American
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $75.00
Pre-Owned Pens: 4055: Conklin: All-American
Sunburst orange has to be one of the cheeriest colors we've seen on a modern pen. Warm and fun looking, this pen can remind you of summer on the bleakest winter's day. Our Conklin All-American fountain pen is a pre-owned pen from the modern reboot of Conklin. It fills with an included standard international converter. You can also use like cartridges. The pen shows minimal wear. Click the headline for a close-up of the pen and steel nib. You'll see a little pitting on the surface of the nib, but it writes a very nice, firm fine line. We can see where people might think it was more of a fine-medium. The nib is a noisy writer on paper, but we feel it is reasonably smooth for a steel nib. Nice big pen that is easy to grip without cramping your hand. 14.3cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4054 Waterman Le Man
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $225.00
Pre-Owned Pens: 4054: Waterman: Le Man
The flagship pen of the Waterman line was the Waterman Le Man in the 1980s and early 90s. Our Le Man fountain pen sports a very nice finish with only light wear. We gave the nib a sonic cleaning, and then we dipped it for a test run. Its original 2-tone 18kt gold nib writes a smooth medium line. You get a converter with the pen, but you also can use Standard International cartridges. Another big plus is that the cap still snaps tightly to the barrel. 14.3cm capped.

Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4053: Conklin: Nozak
The venerable Conklin brand was rebooted with the rebirth of the world's love of the fountain pen. In the early days of the reboot, models were named after the original models of the pens from the 1920s and '30s. This modern Conklin Nozak looks gorgeous with its blue-pebble look in stunning acrylic. Oversized and textured, it is very attractive in one's hand or on one's desk. Only the edges of the clip and cap band show any wear. Its steel nib writes a surprisingly pleasant medium line. You can refill the pen with standard international cartridges or a converter, but, unfortunately, it has no converter at the moment. 14.8cm capped.

It fills with a Cross converter or Cross cartridges. Its steel nib is losing most of its golden plating, but it writes a smooth line that is closer to fine than the medium it is marked as. Pre-Owned Pens: 3577: Signum: Orione
We love Italian design, and this Signum Orione is a very handsome pen in a captivating blue marble design. Slowly turn the pen in the light, and it looks as if there are layers trapped in the acrylic cap and barrel. The blue parts look great with minimal wear. The metal parts show some very small scratches. Includes a working blue Parker-style refill that advances and retracts with a twist of the tail cap. 13.5cm.
Pre-Owned Pens: 4049 Romet Fountain Pen
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $49.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 4049: Romet: Fountain Pen
Acrylic tiger-eye and grey swirls make for a captivating design on this Romet fountain pen. We had never previously heard of the brand, but it is a handsome devil. It is in excellent condition with minimal wear. It sports a international converter, and it also uses like cartridges. Its two-tone steel nib is marked as medium but it writes more of a fine line for us with a little feedback and sharp cross-strokes, like on a "T." 13.7cm.
