Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $59.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5958: Levenger: True Writer
Click the headline to see a little something different. This Levenger True Writer has an 18k gold "Ferrari da Varese" nib. We aren't sure how this nib ended up on this pen, but it is a nifty smooth writer. We find it is a little soft and needs a little breaking in. It has a pink transparent cap and barrel. There is some light wear but it still looks sharp. The nib sticks a little trying to fit it into the cap. It comes with a converter and box. 14cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5955 Waterman LeMan Opera
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $299.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5955: Waterman: LeMan Opera
Harkening back to 1920s black hard rubber with "chasing" designs, this Waterman LeMan Opera fountain pen is a stunningly handsome modern luxury pen. The cap and barrel are in nearly perfect condition. The gold-plated trim has just a little schmutz and wear on the tail end. Click the headline for close-ups. Its two-tone 18k gold nib writes a nice fine-medium line. It is a soft nib that responds to light pressure, but this is not a conventional semi-flex nib. The thin 18k gold is easily sprung. The pen includes a box and papers. 14.4cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5956 Parker Royal Challenger
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1940-1949   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $199.99
Vintage Pens: 5956: Parker: Royal Challenger
Parker Royal Challengers are handsome vintage pens that offered a slightly less expensive option for pen users who couldn't afford the flagship Vacumatics. This pen is nearly perfect, except for its nickel-plated trim, which is heavily worn. We restored this pen with a new ink sac. It is a button-filler like the older Parker Duofolds. Its ink viewing window is ambered. You will write a nice fine line with its 14k gold nib. Click the headline for close-ups. It has a clean imprint that states it is from the first quarter of 1940. 12.2cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5950 Senator President
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $149.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5950: Senator: President
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Clearly, the Montblanc 149 is one well flattered pen. This Senator President fountain pen is an oversized beauty that looks almost brand new. And it also bears a stunning resemblance to the MB 149. However, on this pen, you completely remove the blind cap to advance or retract the piston filler, which still works very smoothly. No cracks, dents, chips nor deep scratches. Its two-tone steel nib is very firm and needs some gentle breaking in from years of not being used. It writes a fine line with some feedback when we broke it in a bit. Click the headline for close-ups. 14.7cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5946 Esterbrook CA
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $29.99
Vintage Pens: 5946: Esterbrook: CA
Pale blue makes for a handsome Esterbrook CA fountain pen. These were Esterbrook's cartridge-only pens. Unfortunately, there are no Esterbrook cartridges that are officially available. However, we've heard rumor that you can tweak a Sheaffer cartridge into working. No cracks mar the cap or barrel. You will see a little light surface wear, but, overall, the pen is in great shape. It comes with a steel 1551 nib that we find writes a fine-medium line with a little light feedback. 13.1cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5944 Esterbrook CA
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: XF
Price: $39.99
Vintage Pens: 5944: Esterbrook: CA
New Old Stock Esterbrook CA fountain pens are not an everyday occurrence. This vintage pen still has its original sticker, and the nib does not show any sign of ink. Depending on how your screen is calibrated, this is definitely a bright orange pen. It is close to day-glo orange. Click the headline for close-ups of the nib and sticker. This is a steel 1555 Gregg nib for the famed Gregg shorthand method. No cracks. No cartridge, either. We don't know a modern cartridge that would fit this. Light wear from rattling around a drawer for 60-odd years. 13.2cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5943 Esterbrook Phaeton 300
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $29.99
Vintage Pens: 5943: Esterbrook: Phaeton 300
Esterbrook clearly took some "inspiration" from the Parker 61 when making this vintage pen called the Esterbrook Phaeton 300. The unfortunate part about Esterbrook cartridge pens is that we don't know of any cartridges or converters that fit it. It is a slender pen with moderate wear to its cap and barrel. There are no cracks. You will write a smooth fine-medium line with its golden alloy nib. 13.8cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5942 Krone Vintage Pen
Filling Mechanism: Rollerball
Era: 1980-present
Price: $99.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5942: Krone: Vintage Pen
A sense of irony must have been in the minds of the executives at Krone when they named this rollerball pen the Krone Vintage Pen. Nothing says vintage like modern rollerball refills. LOL! Our preowned pen is in excellent condition with only light, if any, wear. Unscrew the black tail cap to replace the P8126 capless rollerball refill. Our pen has a working black refill, but we don't know how much ink is left. As such, we include a spare refill. 11.8cm capped.
