Vintage Pens: 5255 Sheaffer Imperial
Filling Mechanism: Cartridge/Converter
Era: 1960-1979   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $69.99
Vintage Pens: 5255: Sheaffer: Imperial
Sheaffer Imperial fountain pen were probably the last of the golden era fountain pens made for every use by Sheaffer. They appeared in the 1960s and continued in production into the 1980s. This vintage pen might not count as vintage to all, but it is a lovely writer. Its 14k gold inlaid nib writes a smooth fine line. The gold plated trim is a little pitted all over and worn by the cap posting on the tail. A very small dent on the top of the cap likely came from a long ago drop. This pen fills with modern Sheaffer cartridges or converters but comes with neither. 13.2cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5252 Mont Blanc John F. Kennedy Special Edition Ballpoint Pen Burgundy
Filling Mechanism: Ballpoint
Era: 1980-present
Price: $499.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5252: Mont Blanc: John F. Kennedy Special Edition Ballpoint Pen Burgundy
John F. Kennedy was truly one of a kind: a naval war hero from WWII, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, senator, young, idealistic and president. His legacy remains long after his life was so tragically cut short. Montblanc Great Characters John F. Kennedy pens pay tribute to the man with a bold ballpoint pen near the size of a LeGrand but so much more regal in burgundy and large gold-plated trim. Our preowned pen is guaranteed authentic, and it includes its original boxes and papers. It writes well with its black ballpoint refill. On the upper piece of the golden trim near the clip there are some light scratches from use. They are easy to miss if you aren't looking for them. The rest of the pen looks great.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5196 Montegrappa 1000 Miglia
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $999.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5196: Montegrappa: 1000 Miglia
The roaring '20s were such a fantastic time for automobile racing. The technology was evolving quickly and no race course was too dangerous. Italy's 1000 Miglia (1000-mile Race) was a huge international challenge, tempting the world's greatest drivers to its inaugural run in 1927. The Montegrappa 1000 Miglia fountain pen pays tribute to the 70th anniversary of this first race. Its sterling silver overlay features etched images of the adventure. The racing red celluloid is stunning in the light. We do not believe this pen has been used. It remains in pristine condition. Click the headline for close-ups. Unfortunately, the faux-leather box looks as if it has just raced for 1,000 miles. This faux leather looked great when new and was quite popular with Waterman, too, but it erodes badly with time. Complete box and papers.
Vintage Pens: 5247 Sheaffer Clipper
Filling Mechanism: Snorkel
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: F
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 5247: Sheaffer: Clipper
It isn't common to find 70-year-old pens with their nib stickers still on them, but that is exactly what you'll find on this Sheaffer Clipper. Clearly, it has seen a little ink, but it was recently restored with a new ink sac, O-ring and point seal. The black and chrome look has a bit of a tuxedo feel. Its palladium-silver Triumph nib writes a fine line, like the sticker says. You will feel it is firm with a little feedback, too, which was common in the Triumph nibs. 14.1cm capped.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5209 Omas Milord Bronze Arco
Filling Mechanism: Piston Filler
Era: 1980-present   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $1,199.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5209: Omas: Milord Bronze Arco
Here it is, the Italian grail pen for many: an Omas Milord in the bronze arco celluloid. This pen is especially handsome with sections of stunning patterns of alternating dark and light arco fun. Its piston filler works well, and there is hardly any trace of wear on the pen. You also get its original boxes, leather sleeve and papers. Unfortunately, the interior of the box is starting to deteriorate a little, as these boxes often do. The 18k gold nib is marked M for medium, but we haven't written with it, as we aren't quite sure if anyone has written with this pen before. No cracks or scratches. Looks almost pristine. 14.5cm capped.
Vintage Pens: 5246 Parker Fish Desk Base
Filling Mechanism: Button Filler
Era: 1920-1929   Fountain Pen Nib Size: FLEXI
Price: $299.99
Vintage Pens: 5246: Parker: Fish Desk Base
We don't know what you'll love more about this Parker Desk Pen set, the carved fish base or the flexi-nibbed Parker Duofold Jr. Desk Pen. Both are pretty amazing. This pen is not the original pen to the Parker Desk Base. We restored it with a new ink sac. Hopefully, you will be dazzled by the pen's original 14k gold nib. You will write from a wet fine-medium to a slightly more than 1mm wide line! The pen is the lapis model that is very dark with discoloration but still very sound of body. The desk base looks to be in pretty good condition to us. No major scratches or chips. The pen fits nicely in the trumpet. You can see the Parker logo on the back edge. Unfortunately, the paper sticker on the felt bottom is missing. These are great and creative bases for desk, and the pen remains a fantastic writer with a rare nib.
Pre-Owned Pens: 5197 Montegrappa Espressione Duetto
Filling Mechanism: Ballpoint
Era: 1980-present
Price: $249.99
Pre-Owned Pens: 5197: Montegrappa: Espressione Duetto
We keep saying it time and again, but we think Montegrappa is among the very best of modern pen makers. The Italian craftsmen who designed this luxurious pen made a tail cap of sterling silver that looks a little reminiscent of the Stanley Cup. The celluloid barrel undulates between glittering deep grey streaks and nearly black. Twist the tail cap to advance and retract the Parker-style black refill that works well. You will get the complete boxes and papers this preowned pen originally came with. The pen looks close to new. 13.3cm.
Vintage Pens: 5244 Parker 61 First Edition
Filling Mechanism: Capillary
Era: 1950-1959   Fountain Pen Nib Size: M
Price: $149.99
Vintage Pens: 5244: Parker: 61 First Edition
In our humble opinions, the last great golden era of fountain pen design filling system innovation was the capillary filler by Parker. A Teflon tube filled with a material that messlessly drew ink from a bottle was genius. Unlike Sheaffer's overengineered Snorkels, this pen required no mechanical movement at all. We flushed this first edition Parker 61 until it ran clear. It had blue-black ink in it before, and there might still be some lurking within, in spite of the flushing clear. The only trouble with these pens is that it is very challenging to change ink colors. Its 14k gold nib writes a smooth medium line. Click the headline for a close up. Only light to moderate wear from previous use. No cracks. A couple little pits or dings in the steel cap. 13.7cm capped.
